Barrett Stinson retired from newspaper work in 2020 after being the photo editor/chief photographer at The Independent in Grand Island, Nebraska since 1996.

Before moving to Grand Island from California with his wife, Mitzi, Barrett worked as an intern, staff photographer or regular freelance photographer for several newspapers, including The Los Angeles Times, The Claremont Courier, The San Bernardino Sun, The Pasadena Star News, The Arizona Republic and The New York Times. Barrett's editorial work has also been published in many regional, national and international magazines though the years.

While focusing mostly on editorial work during his career, Barrett has been fortunate to work on many commercial projects as well, serving individual clients, and/or working with ad agencies, to create quality results to meet their specific needs and exceed their expectations.

Fortunate to have worked for newspaper publications where creative quality photography was the goal and the tradition, Barrett continues to enjoy capturing moments with visual clarity and aesthetic style while pursuing personal work and/or working for clients.
